Inside Our New Sydney Store

We've opened a big, bougie playground in the basement at Westfield Sydney. 

 

Canvasing almost 300 square metres, our new store is, quite frankly, the culmination of years of reckless experimentation.

It’s a mash-up of high fashion, meticulous product design and accessories, mind-bending gourmet food, and craft beverages all made by the world’s most obsessive creators in a space that feels more like a sculpture than a store. 

Every piece of the eight-thousand-piece interwoven timber store space designed by Han Lim from StudioMKZ was painstakingly hand assembled by night over the past four months by Archiway’s Scott Sun and his team.

Inspired by Japanese sculptor Tadashi Kawamata, the space is designed to make your brow furrow and your heart scamper as you contemplate the curious relationship between architecture, art, and the intoxicating smell of pine.

The space includes the newest collections from the likes of Comme Des Garçons Comme Des Garçons, Comme Des Garçons Tricot, Pleats Please Issey Miyake, Bao Bao Issey Miyake, Marni, and MM6 Maison Margiela, design from local heroes Dinosaur Designs, Momoko Hatano and Lucy Folk, a gourmet food range that incorporates gin-spiked mayonnaise and Hubba Bubba alongside other high-end chocolates, teas and relishes, a book range curated from small independent Japanese, English and French publishers, and other handmade artisanal glassware, fragrance, and indescribable creations from all over the globe.

Designed like a theatre set that can be transformed to accommodate any manner of exhibition or escapade, the new Sorry Thanks I Love You space incorporates a rather sleek specialty coffee and chocolate bar, serving up a menu of single origin coffee from Sydney’s Single O among other curious treats.

The space also includes a fifteen metre-long crescent of communal, tiered seating to accommodate a somewhat elaborate event calendar against a soundscape powered by French luxury audio specialists Devialet.
