Hender Scheme is named after Ann Berm’s ‘gender scheme’ concept – a theory to explain how individuals become gendered in society. Founder Ryo Kashiwazaki ambition was to do away with conventional, gender-based fashion, and instead let design dictate a product. The resulting collection of unisex premium footwear and accessories has transformed Hender Scheme into one of Japan’s underground lovemarks. Available in very limited numbers.
A psychology major-turned-cobbler, Ryo Kashiwazaki is an artisan leather craftsman with a cult-like following around the globe. With his team of 13 artisans across Tokyo and Kobe, Ryo balances human hands with machines to recreate some of the most iconic sneakers of our time.
