“I hope to present a light and bright future”, says Rei Kawakubo, in stark contrast to the sorrow themed collections of the past year. She strays from her archetypal blacks in favour of fierce colour, delivering grandiose shapes at mass volumes and textural trompe l’oeils. With it's flat, kimono-inspired construction and flared shape, this jacket is a call-back to the cut-out doll silhouettes of the iconic Comme Des Garçons Fall Winter 2012 collection.
