Y-3 Sydney Is Open
We're excited to announce the launch of our newest project: Australia's first ever Y-3 store.
A permanent collaboration between Yohji Yamamoto and Adidas founded in 2002, Y-3 is credited with inventing the clothing we now know as streetwear.
What is Y-3?
Y-3’s signature style combines engineered garments and intensive performance with Yamamoto’s singular elegance and strong tailoring. The result is a modern uniform of the streets— designed in Japanese and German ateliers and intended for the world.
Fuelled by the innovations of adidas and expressed in the style of Yohji Yamamoto, Y-3 creates progressive apparel, footwear, and accessories—a vision driven by both the sports icon and the renowned designer.
Art vs Sport
Designed in Japan and capturing the pioneering and innovative spirit of Y-3, the store design recontextualises materials and colour palettes usually found in the sporting arena in an art gallery-like setting. Portuguese cork columns, hand-painted fabric-covered walls, and discs of mottled rubber and recycled rainbow-flecked plastics create an unexpected synergy between natural and synthetic materials.
The New Y-3 Collection
For over 20 years Y-3 has pioneered a uniquely disruptive approach to sportswear, evocatively blending Japanese craft with German innovation through the brand’s inimitable design language and rebellious vision. Reimagining the very foundations of the brand, the current collection blends Japanese craft with German engineering as the brand subversively looks ahead to a new era of elevated design and avant-garde aestheticism.
Y-3 Sydney is the first Y-3 store in Australia and is now open at Westfield Sydney, just next door to Sorry Thanks I Love You. We started the transformation of level one at Westfield Sydney about a year ago, and we're excited to be part of its evolution into an indie luxury mash-up over the coming months. Find us on level 1 from 11am - 6pm every day.
