This floral velvet skirt comes with a detachable lace layer that can be worn in multiple ways. Led by Tao Kurihara, a Central Saint Martins graduate and former mentee of Junya Watanabe, Comme des Garcons TAO is an exercise in baroque, explicit femininity tempered by subtle masculinity. The evasive designer keeps her inspirations secret, but the mainstay visual elements of the line include up-cycled wedding dresses, folkloric whimsy, and frilled but distressed silhouettes that resemble punk imbued cake decorations. In typical TAO fashion, this embellished take on a staple garment can be dressed up or pared down.
