We've been offering free yoga in our spaces for the past four years: bringing people together, lifting them up, and keeping their mental health en pointe.
What started off as a one-off project with Sydney-based surf community OneWave has evolved into a permanent offering, allowing us to utilise our spaces after dark while also experimenting with the idea of what a ‘shop’ can do or be.
Last year we surpassed more than 10,000 student registrations – and we’ve raised thousands of dollars for our non-profit partner Chris O'Brien Lifehouse along the way.
When Sydney went into lockdown earlier in 2020 we decided to take our classes online via IGTV with one Sydney’s most in-demand yoga instructors: Misch Gomez. More than a thousand people tuned in to our first class, so we expanded the program to offer free virtual yoga from all over Sydney to connect people with some of the city’s most iconic but off-limits locations, including the shuttered Ken Done Gallery.
The production was low-fi, but the response has been epic. So in the spirit of the program, we’ve made the classes available for free via our new YouTube Channel.
