Proving that her design process is as current as it is timeless - Kawakubo describes the inspiration for this collection as a “lamentation for the sorrow in the world today”, yet it’s anything but dour. The runway was filled with out of this world sculptural shapes and rich, textured fabrics that evoke nostalgia for a bygone time of her own invention. As difficult to find as the clandestine designer herself, the ‘Comme Des Garcons Comme Des Garcons’ line is a distillation of the forward-looking CDG spirit, and is fiercely protected by Kawukubo. A meeting of purism and practicality in a crisp palette of black, navy and white, CDGCDG is only available at a handful of outposts around the world.
