Infinity Ring – Joao Vaz

In the spirit of Escher and eternal commitment, Portuguese designer Joao Vaz’s infinity ring has been cleverly designed as an angular, infinite loop. A remake of a 15th century posy ring, it’s inscribed with an adaption of William Blake’s ‘The Cloud and The Pebble’ and reads: "Love for another gives it's ease, and builds a heaven in hell's despair.” Joao’s newest collection, Soliloquy, riffs on four different emotional extremes in acrylic, precious metals, gems and glass, gently fusing the machine with the manmade.

Sydney-based designer Joao Vaz believes he has a responsibility to create pieces that make the heart flutter. “We need to remind ourselves from time to time of what it is to have consciousness, and a soul, and a heart, and feelings. We need to create work that really exacerbates this.”  Meet him in our journal.
