Bao Bao Issey Miyake Black Lucent Matte Crossbody Bag

Bao Bao

In typical Issey Miyake fashion, the Bao Bao bag connects fashion, art and technology with an almost invisible magic. This bag is constructed from a flexible grid of leathery vinyl triangles linked together with polyester mesh and is like clay in the hands of a sculptor - its shape and composition entirely at the whim of its owner. There’s a reason these technical, innovative bags have gone viral, and why they are so fiercely protected by the Issey Miyake brand.  Every other month, a new colour palette of Bao Bao bags is released in very limited quantiities.

More Info

The grandfather of modern design, progressive Japanese designer Issey Miyake has an infamous preoccupation with geometry and technology. Now 77, Issey Miyake is hailed by artists, designers and fashion houses as one of the most influential creatives of the century, and is perhaps most famous for his eponymous boutique perfume line and lightweight, un-creasable clothing line, ‘Pleats Please’. He’s also the man behind Steve Jobs’ black turtlenecks, the Lithuanian Olympic uniform in 1992, and most recently, the founder of his own design museum in Tokyo.  Issey Miyake Bao Bao is one of many pet projects, and was established in 2000.
