Bao Bao Issey Miyake Black Sling Shoulder Bag

Made from a crispy, secret-recipe material that combines resin and jersey, Issey Miyake’s Kuro bags are designed for the long haul: aka your lifetime.  Originally conceived as a “sports” line, the range has developed with the modern man and his morning commute: whether that involve plane, train or automobile.  Your photographer, architect, and graphic designer pals have all known about these carry-alls for a while now, despite them only just becoming available in Sydney for the first time. Conceptually, these bags draw on Issey Miyake’s obsession with geometry and efficiency. Practically, this means that once you acquire one of these squashable, durable bags, you’ll never need another bag again. Just ask that architect friend of yours.

More Info

The grandfather of modern design, progressive Japanese designer Issey Miyake has an infamous preoccupation with geometry and technology. Now 77, Issey Miyake is hailed by artists, designers and fashion houses as one of the most influential creatives of the century, and is perhaps most famous for his eponymous boutique perfume line and lightweight, un-creasable clothing line, ‘Pleats Please’. He’s also the man behind Steve Jobs’ black turtlenecks, the Lithuanian Olympic uniform in 1992, and most recently, the founder of his own design museum in Tokyo.  Issey Miyake Bao Bao is one of many pet projects, and was established in 2000.
